Come in and see us this week

First of all, we are open during the Memorial Day holiday so we will be in on Monday–if you are not able to come be sure to give us advance notice so we can schedule you at another time this week.

We have been working on improving the atmosphere and functionality of our space, so please check out what we have added/moved/ etc around the school.  And while you are at it, please stop by the front desk–we have updated our policies and need EVERYONE to sign an updated form for us and check to make sure we have the most up to date contact info.  We are also creating our recital schedules for the weekend of Sat June 27 and Sun June 28, so please let us know your schedule conflicts or preferences so we can be sure to put you in a good time slot.

We, as always, have lots going on–but it is our sincere desire to serve you and your family better and better (and I hope we are succeeding).  We look forward to seeing you this week and we keep you up to date!

Thank you for your partnership– Mr Michael and the NewSongs staff

Music Moves Me contest rules

Newsongs School of Music is celebrating “Elk Grove Family Arts Participation Month” in May. To help celebrate and demonstrate how children in our community are growing through music and the arts, despite economic hard times and education cutbacks, we are having a art contest and a writing contest.  The theme is “Music Moves Me.”  Students may enter original art pieces in any format (no larger than 20” by 30”) showing how music moves or impacts them.  A winner will be chosen in ages 4 to 7, ages 6 to 11, and ages 12 to 16, and winning pieces will be displayed publicly.  Winners will also receive free tuition for the music class of their choice* and a family arts gift basket.

Students may also enter original writing pieces (essay, poem, or short story, up to 750 words long) about the effects of music in their lives.  A winner will be chosen in ages 4 to 7, ages 6 to 11, and ages 12 to 16, and winning pieces will be printed in the Elk Grove Citizen.  Winners will also receive free tuition for the music class of their choice* and a family arts gift basket.

Entries must be brought to Newsongs School of Music, 9609 E Stockton Blvd, Elk Grove, CA 95624 by May 31st.  Winners will be announced by June 7th.

Join us at our open houses May 16th and 17th during the “Shop Elk Grove” event and on May 30th and 31st as we complete our contest for special activities and class information.

*One month free tuition at Newsongs School of Music (available classes are piano, guitar, violin, drums, and singing)

Congratulations Students!!

We tallied over 43,000 minutes of student practice over the past 4 weeks, and so this week we are having a week-long PIZZA PARTY at our lessons this week.  Congrats to our fabulous students for all their hard work.

Open for “Spring Break”

Because of a variety of school schedules we work with, we are open this week while many people are on “Spring Break”.  Please plan to attend class if you can, and if you cannot let us know in advance so we can try to reschedule with you if possible.  We are open 13 weeks this quarter (May 30 through June 27), but you may have a cancelled class (either you cancel or your teacher has a cancelled day) during this quarter that is not made up–it is our “extra week”.  Happy Easter and we look forward to seeing you!
