Music Moves Me contest rules
May 2, 2009
Newsongs School of Music is celebrating “Elk Grove Family Arts Participation Month” in May. To help celebrate and demonstrate how children in our community are growing through music and the arts, despite economic hard times and education cutbacks, we are having a art contest and a writing contest. The theme is “Music Moves Me.” Students may enter original art pieces in any format (no larger than 20” by 30”) showing how music moves or impacts them. A winner will be chosen in ages 4 to 7, ages 6 to 11, and ages 12 to 16, and winning pieces will be displayed publicly. Winners will also receive free tuition for the music class of their choice* and a family arts gift basket.
Students may also enter original writing pieces (essay, poem, or short story, up to 750 words long) about the effects of music in their lives. A winner will be chosen in ages 4 to 7, ages 6 to 11, and ages 12 to 16, and winning pieces will be printed in the Elk Grove Citizen. Winners will also receive free tuition for the music class of their choice* and a family arts gift basket.
Entries must be brought to Newsongs School of Music, 9609 E Stockton Blvd, Elk Grove, CA 95624 by May 31st. Winners will be announced by June 7th.
Join us at our open houses May 16th and 17th during the “Shop Elk Grove” event and on May 30th and 31st as we complete our contest for special activities and class information.
*One month free tuition at Newsongs School of Music (available classes are piano, guitar, violin, drums, and singing)
